Undefined Forge 1.0.6: new design and automatic updates
A new design is here. Forge updates your games by itself and continues a download that was cut off.
Undefined Forge 1.0.6 has a new design. It updates your games by itself and continues a download that was cut off.
New design
- Your games are on the left. The selected game has a large key art, and one big Play button under it.
- Version and channel picker, status and progress bar are in the same block.
- The top bar has the Games, News and Downloads tabs. Search, notifications, settings and profile are there too.
- Your friends are in the right panel. It has requests, online and offline groups and a chat button.
- Text is at least 14 px. Body text is Inter, headings are Space Grotesk.
- Games that are not out yet are not listed.
- When a download ends, it says "verifying" instead of "100 percent".
Automatic updates
- Forge checks your installed games when it starts and every 15 minutes.
- When there is a new version, it downloads it in the background.
- It does not touch a game that is running or an install that is in progress.
- With no internet, it quietly waits for the next check.
- When you press Play, the new version installs first. A version that is too old never starts.
- In Settings > Downloads, "Update games automatically" is on by default. If you turn it off, Play still updates first.
Downloads that were cut off
- If Forge closes, crashes or the power goes out, an unfinished update continues on the next start.
- If you paused an update yourself, Forge leaves it alone.
- If you press Play, the update finishes first, then the game starts.
New setup tool
- The setup window is new. It has a dark navy background with the Undefined Forge mark and name in the middle.
- The game art and the blue question mark are gone.
- The same mark is on the app icon, the taskbar, the shortcut, the top bar and the sign-in card.
- If the connection drops during setup, the download continues where it stopped.
You can get Forge from the download page.
